Mug Shot of K-9 Officer Released After He Eats a Fellow Officer’s Lunch – Charges Dropped After Public Outcry

No charges will be filed in the case of an alleged lunch theft by K9 Officer Ice at the Wyandotte Police Department in Michigan after public outcry over a lack of video evidence.
According to police, Officer Barwig was in the break room eating lunch on Jan. 10 when he was called to assist someone at the WPD jail, and left his food on the table. Upon returning, Barwig and another officer witnessed Officer Ice leaving the break room “licking his chops.”
“Barwig’s entire lunch was gone….disappeared, vanished,” police wrote alongside Ices mugshot on Facebook.
“Ofc. Ice has invoked his fifth amendment right to remain silent and quite frankly is not cooperating with the investigation,” police said. “He has a history of rummaging through trash cans that are within his reach. There have been several other accusations of him taking food right from coworker’s hands as they walk by.”
Response from the public was swift on social media. “Dozens” of attorneys offered to defend Ice, and the department was “threatened with massive protests if we move forward with our investigation and/or charges,” police said in an update.
“Plus the overall public just doesnt believe he is guilty. No video has been produced,” police said. “That being said Ofc Ice will not face any internal discipline or criminal charges.”
Additional photos shared by police show Ice with a custom sandwich, which was donated by local supporter Lunch Wyandotte “because they felt like he wasnt being fed enough,” police said. “Side note, they threw the officers a tray of sammies too!”
