Two sheep that were tied together and left for dead after a car accident were rescued on Friday, and thanks to donors theyve found their forever home at Friendly Fields Farm in Waynesville, N.C.

The animal sanctuary says the two sheep were tied together in the back of a pickup truck when the driver was involved in a hit-and-run accident and “ditched the truck in the woods.” The sanctuary said it took more than 12 hours to find the truck and the injured sheep.

Horry County Animal Services brought the sheep to Friendly Fields “in rough shape.”nnThe black and white sheep, dubbed Stanley, has a dramatically bent neck that likely isnt a result of the accident. Stanley also has a broken tail and an infection in his ear tag, the sanctuary said. The golden sheep, now named Sonny, arrived with an eye infection.

Both sheep were thin, hungry and dirty when they arrived at Friendly Fields, but “despite everything they have been through, they are surprisingly sweet and trusting,” the sanctuary said. “They came right over to us for ear pets and sniffs.”nnThe sanctuary took the injured sheep to the University of Tennessee large animal hospital over the weekend.

“The good news is that they dont think Stanley is in any pain,” they said of his unusual bent neck. “They told us that he is jumping and running and playing in his stall!”nnThanks to a flood of donations after the rescue, Stanley and Sonny will be able to stay at the sanctuary and “finally have the kind of life they deserve.”
