The Fort Worth Zoo in Texas announced the birth of a male western lowland gorilla, the second to be born at the zoo. The as-yet-unnamed baby gorilla was born Nov. 6 to parents Gracie and Elmo, the zoo said. The little gorilla was estimated to weigh between four and five pounds, which is normal for the species, the zoo said. Gracie is keeping her baby close while he gets acclimated to the zoos World of Primates habitat and meets other troop members. Zookeepers say the pair is continuing to bond but are fully integrated into the troop. The baby gorilla can be seen by visitors in both indoor and outdoor areas of the habitat, depending on weather and his activity level, the zoo said.
