A video shared by the Oregon Zoo in Portland shows beavers munching on leaves, carrots and pumpkins. “Brunch managers,” the zoo wrote alongside clips of beavers chomping down on a variety of produce. They can also be seen chewing through wood and moving it around their watery habitat. Beavers are large rodents, best known for building dams that protect their colonies from predators and store their winter food. Once nearly driven to extinction by fur trappers, the American beaver is has been restored in many state waters, according to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. The beaver is Oregons state symbol, and appears on its flag.
