A white rhino suffering from allergies is receiving eye drops and moisturizer from zookeepers in Australia.
A video shared by the Werribee Open Range Zoo in Werribee, Victoria, about 20 miles southwest of Melbourne, shows Letaba the southern white rhino with an irritated eye.
“Were not entirely sure what causes Letabas eye issues,” says Savannah Keeper Linda. “We know it is an allergy. It could be dust, it could be pollen, it could be grasses, those sorts of things.”
The video shows a keeper rubbing a white lotion around Letabas eye, then using a syringe to apply eye drops.
“With the treatments, Letaba is definitely much more comfortable, much happier,” Linda says. “Its really nice to be able to provide that care so we have nice happy, healthy animals.”
